I have to say, I absolutely adore Caitlin and Royce. They’re two of the most kind humans I know. When I asked them to describe their relationship, they used words like "easy, fairytale, loving, supportive, compatible, and best friends." You can see in the way they interact that their love is so genuine—it’s truly that best friend fairytale kind of relationship. Not only are they supportive of each other, but also of everyone in their lives.
When we discussed their engagement session, they wanted photos that felt candid, like they were just laughing and enjoying each other’s company, without awkwardly staring at the camera. Honestly, that’s exactly how I want every session to feel—natural and fun!
Their Romantic Engagement Photos on the Beach
When we talked about locations, the beach was an obvious choice. Since Caitlin and Royce have been navigating long distance, and their favorite activity is simply spending time together, the beach is a special place where they’ve made some memories here in Florida. Plus, it’s close to one of their favorite spots, Marina Cafe. And really, you can’t go wrong with white sandy beaches, stunning blue water, and the most incredible golden hour. 30A can sometimes feel tricky when it comes to finding public beaches so if you’re trying to find a spot along the way here is a list of some of the public beach accesses.

Candid, Authentic Engagement Photos
When I think of a theme, my mind goes to something big like a movie or a celebrity vibe—The Notebook, Taylor Swift, or even a color like pink. And yes, you could totally do a “Notebook-themed” engagement session, but it doesn’t have to be that elaborate. A theme can be as simple as capturing the right vibe.
For Caitlin and Royce, the vibe was candid, romantic, and authentically them. We brought that theme into their session with lots of movement-based prompts that encouraged natural laughter. It made everything feel effortless, and we were able to capture those genuinely candid moments. A theme can be as simple as deciding how you want to feel during the session and when you look back at your photos.
Questions to ask yourself (and share with your photog– FYI these are questions in the questionnaire I send to you when we’re planning your session) when it comes to creating a theme:
How would you describe your relationship in three words?
What’s your favorite thing to do together?
Is there a place that’s special to you as a couple?
How do you want to feel when you look back at these photos?
What’s the vibe you want—romantic, playful, adventurous, laid-back, all of the above?
Are there any movies or songs that reflect your relationship?
Do you have a favorite season, time of day, or lighting that speaks to you?
Do you want your photos to feel more candid and in-the-moment or posed and polished?
